Fish Aquarium Pumps
Aquarium pumps, before I buy I need help.?
Hi, this is a fairly simple question that I can’t seem to find an answer for anywhere… They say to get a pump that pumps 10x your aquarium volume. Is this because you lose so much in head going to the tank itself or because you want your tank cycled 10 times an hour? Because if it is the latter then I would have to pay $400 on a pump and I don’t really want to do that nor could I afford it. I’m fairly crazy for considering paying $60 for a pump to a fish tank I DON’T LIVE IN! hahah, well if anyone knows let me know! Thanks!
that figure mean you want the pump to filter the water 10x per hour.
While that is a good turn over rate depending on your tank size and what you plan on keeping you may only need a turn over rate of 4 to6 times per hour.
With weekly top offs and water changes .
